Tool
Tech Story Publisher
A private command-line tool that publishes finished Tech Story episodes to the Tech Story YouTube channel, using YouTube API Services.
What it does
Tech Story Publisher runs locally, as a command-line tool. It reads a finished episode folder and sends that episode's video and metadata to the Tech Story channel through the YouTube Data API v3:
- uploads the video file and sets its title, description, tags and scheduled publish time,
- uploads the custom thumbnail,
- uploads the subtitle (caption) file,
- adds the video to the right playlist.
A dry-run mode shows exactly what would be sent before anything is sent.
Who uses it
Only the owner of the Tech Story channel. It is not offered to the public, has no user accounts, no website login and no servers. It only ever acts on the Tech Story channel, after the owner signs in with Google and grants access.
Google access it requests
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube.force-ssl: to upload videos, set video details and publish time, upload captions, set thumbnails and add videos to playlists on the Tech Story channel.
Sign-in uses Google's standard OAuth 2.0 flow for installed applications. The tool never sees the Google password.
Data handling
- Sign-in tokens are stored encrypted on the device where the tool runs. They are never stored on a server, in source control, or shared.
- No YouTube data is sent to any third party. There is no analytics, advertising or tracking.
- Full details are in the Privacy Policy. Use of the tool is covered by the Terms of Service.
- Access can be revoked at any time at Google's permissions page.
